2016年10月
I went to Tokyo to attend Oxford Day 2016 at Toyama Campus of Waseda University.
My main objective was to get information about the new trend of university enterance examination, and ,of course, English education in Japan.
I chose to attend the seminar below.(There were max. 3 choices to attend at the same time.)
1. Reform of university enterance exams towards 4 skills tewsting by Mr. Fumihito Ando
2. Educational contexts as determinants of bilingualism: The case of Immersion by
Ms. Victoria Murphy
3. The ins and outs(ups and downs) of creating and implementing a 12 year English programme by Mr. Rene Bourchard
4. Otsu City elementary school curriculum design project by Mr. Richard Attwood
Waseda University has been implementing English and other subjects classe which are all taught in English. It was very interesting. English test for university enterance exam will be replaced by other English profeciency tests or combined with the part of it.
Emersion education was also interesting. I know it is the best way to educate Japanese who can work in the world, but I am not sure it is for everyone.
